Mohammed Kudus was charged by the FA following West Ham's 4-1 defeat against Tottenham on Saturday. The Ghana international was dismissed for violent conduct during a melee where he appeared to strike Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr of Spurs. Initially shown a yellow card, the decision was upgraded to a straight red after an on-field review.

The FA alleges that Kudus acted improperly and/or used violent conduct after the incident that led to his sending-off. In addition to Kudus, both clubs have also faced charges. West Ham is accused of failing to ensure their players did not engage in improper, provocative, or violent behaviour during the match, while Tottenham allegedly did not prevent their players from acting improperly around the 82nd minute.

All parties charged have until Thursday, October 24, to respond. Former Premier League referee Mike Dean has weighed in on the situation, predicting that Kudus could face further action. Speaking on Soccer Saturday, he stated, “When you see the footage back, the first one he could have got sent off for – which I’m hoping he has. Then hopefully the second one, the FA will then take retrospective action so he’ll get done twice in my opinion. Because he’s hit two different players in the face on two occasions. I think he’ll get done twice.”

Tottenham produced a stunning second-half display to thrash 10-man West Ham 4-1 in a thrilling London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

After dominating much of the first half, Spurs found themselves trailing when Mohammed Kudus struck first for the visitors in the 18th minute, converting Jarrod Bowen’s cutback. However, Tottenham equalized just before halftime when Dejan Kulusevski’s shot rattled both posts before crossing the line.

Ange Postecoglou’s side came out firing after the break, with Yves Bissouma netting and Jean-Clair Todibo adding an own goal in a rapid-fire two-goal sequence just five minutes in. Son Heung-Min then made an emphatic return from a three-game absence due to a hamstring injury, sealing the game with a powerful run and finish in the 60th minute.

West Ham's woes were further compounded late in the match when VAR prompted an on-field review, resulting in Kudus receiving a straight red card for his involvement in a heated incident.
