This triumph allowed the team to establish a new single-season points record in Major League Soccer, finishing with 74 points—surpassing the previous 73 set by the Revolution in 2021.

The standout performance came from Lionel Messi, who entered the match as a second-half substitute and made an immediate impact. He scored a remarkable hat trick and provided an assist, making MLS history as just the fifth player to record at least 36 goal contributions in a single season. Messi also became the first player to net three goals and add an assist as a substitute in a match. With his three goals, he also became Inter Miami's all-time leading scorer, reaching 33 goals and surpassing Leonardo Campana's tally of 32.

The match started poorly for Inter Miami, with the Revolution taking an early lead through Luca Langoni in the second minute. Williot Swedberg doubled the advantage for New England in the 34th minute. However, Luis Suárez ignited Miami's comeback by scoring their first goal in the 40th minute, finishing a well-executed team play.
